You are now on the page: Bible question of the day. There are three baptisms in the bible, why do we only have ONE?
The THREE (3) baptisms in the Holy Scripture: baptism with water by men, and two more baptisms by Jesus Christ Himself with the Holy Spirit and with Fire.
In the modern-day Christian Church there is only one baptism: the baptism with water unto repentance (aka "the baptism of John"). But in the Bible, throughout the entire New Testament, there are THREE baptisms, not one: the baptism with water by men, the baptism with the Holy Ghost be Jesus Himself, and the baptism with FIRE by Jesus Christ also.
For thousands of years, all Christians *knew* that there are three baptisms; this was were very simple, basic "baby's milk" Gospel truth. From the earliest days of the Church on the first day of the Church (Pentecost) to the twenty first century the Church KNEW the three baptims.
Today the 'modern church' has fallen so far in the last few years that it does not even know its very foundations. Here we will discuss, and ask for your opinions and testimony, regarding the Church's fallen-away status today.

Today's topic is: We know that there are three (3) baptisms in the bible: with water, with the Holy Ghost and with FIRE.
The bible question is: Then why does the modern-day fallen church only recognize and obey one baptism ... and that one baptism just barely?
The scriptural answer is: We must do what our Father, our Lord and our God Jesus Christ, has ordered us to do:
1. We must submit to being baptized by Christians with water unto repentance — as Jesus Himself submitted to water baptism;
2. Jesus Christ only baptizes us with the Holy Ghost / Holy Spirit — as Jesus Himself was baptized with the Holy Spirit;
3. Jesus Christ only baptizes us with FIRE — just as Jesus was also baptized with fire.
What are the three baptisms in the bible? Please count them yourself below.
There is the baptism with water, with the Holy Spirit and the baptism with FIRE.
But wait! Today the church preaches, recognizes and practices only ONE baptism: the baptism with water unto repentance (and even then "just barely").
What exactly is up with that?
Why has the modern-era Christian Church decided to IGNORE two-thirds of the bible?
First things first, who are we?
We believe the Living Word of God: Jesus Christ.
We know that the written word of God is recorded in the Holy Scriptures: the Bible.
We have been commanded by God to do three simple things in order to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
The simple truth: Hear what Jesus says, believe what He tells us is true and to do what Jesus tells us to do.
Below is the simple Kindergarten-Level Arithmetic equation for being a true disciple of Jesus Christ ...
(HEAR Jesus) + (BELIEVE Him) + (OBEY Him)
Could it possibly be more simple than that?
Where are we today?
»     Today we are amazed.
How far has the Church fallen in the last few years?
What once we all knew only a few years ago, today has become a complete mystery to us.
»     Today most Christian Churches (virtually all churches?) completely ignore the baptisms by JESUS: both the baptism with the Holy Spirit and the baptism with FIRE.
» Virtually all "mainline" and "evangelical" churches just barely meet the minimum elements of "the Baptism of John" (i.e. "the baptism with water unto repentance"), while completely ignoring Two Thirds of the Bible as though most of the bible does not even exist.
» Virtually all "charismatic" or "Pentecostal" denominations also completely ignore the baptism with FIRE, as though they cannot read the plain and simple Word of the Living God.
What must we do?
Let us gather together in JESUS Christ, that His Holy Spirit will guide us into the Truth; as it is written:
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." [John 16:12-13 KJV]
Is it a surprise to us that:
» when we ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to hear and believe and obey Jesus Christ when He told us that ONLY the Holy Spirit will lead us into "all truth"
» that we do not know the whole truth?
Where in the Bible does it say that there are three baptisms in Jesus' Church?
And why should we care?
»     The three (3) baptisms in the New Testament. ... count them yourself.
One baptism is performed by men.
The other two baptisms are performed by the Resurrected and Glorified and Ascended JESUS Christ Himself.
The three Baptism clearly outlined in the bible are:
1. The baptism of John with water ("unto repentance").
2. The baptism by Jesus with the Holy Ghost.
3. The baptism by Jesus with FIRE.
Scriptures citing baptism with WATER - and baptism with the HOLY GHOST - and baptism with FIRE.
Luke 3:16 KJV » "John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the HOLY GHOST and with FIRE
Matthew 3:11-16 KJV » "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance ... he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with FIRE:  Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him [with the Baptism of John with water]... And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him."
Mark 1:7-8 NKJV » And he preached, saying, “There comes One after me who is mightier than I, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to stoop down and loose. I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
John 1:33 KJV » "And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.' "
John 14:16-18 KJV » The Lord Jesus told us that He Himself will baptize us with His Holy Spirit: "... [the Father] shall give you another Comforter ... Even the SPIRIT of truth ... ye know him; for HE DWELLETH WITH YOU, and shall be in you ... I WILL COME to you."
»    Where are we today
... the Church of Jesus Christ and His Body which He left behind in the outer court
... in with keeping His commandments?
We are called to be His disciples: to FOLLOW Jesus and to do what Jesus did.
But we ARE NOT following Jesus
... we are merely BELIEVING the Doctrines of MEN
... and OBEYING the TRADITIONS of this world.
That is simply not good enough brothers and sisters ... not nearly even close to following Jesus.
— we did not call Jesus into this world;
— we are called by Jesus out of this world, into "the Kingdom of God is AT HAND."
Let us do what Jesus Himself did.
 Jesus was baptized THREE TIMES ...
1. Baptized With Water » Jesus was first baptized with water by John.
I sincerely had hoped that all who read this would know about Jesus' baptism by John;
... but as I was publishing this article the Holy Spirit of God (i.e. the Spirit of Christ) warned me: "Do not presume that any person in this world of darkness and sin and death knows any truth."
... therefore you may refer to All Four Gospels of Jesus Christ:
Matthew 3:13,16-17 KJV » "Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. And Jesus, when he was baptized ... And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Mark 1:9-11 KJV » "... Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him ... a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Luke 3:21-22 KJV » "... it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."
and John 1:29-34 KJV » "... John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God ... of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me .. I knew him not ... therefore am I come baptizing with water. John bare record, saying, 'I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.' And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."
2. Baptized With the Spirit » After Jesus was baptized with water IMMEDIATELY He was baptized with the Holy Ghost:
John 1:33 KJV » "... he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.' "
3. Baptized With Fire » And immediately after Jesus was baptized with water and baptized with the Holy Spirit,
... immediately Jesus was led by the spirit into the wilderness where Jesus was baptized with FIRE:
Matthew 4:1-11 KJV » "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted ... he had fasted forty days and forty nights ... when the tempter came to him ... Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him."
Mark 1:8-12 KJV » "I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost ... Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him ... And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness."

A word aside for all of the "evangelical" and "mainline" churches, as well as virtually all of the "charismatic" or "Pentecostal" denominations:
Many (virtually all?) modern-day Christians have been religiously schooled only in one specific and highly apostate *doctrine of men.*
That false doctrine of men claims that the two Baptisms, with water and with the Holy Spirit:
» either are the same event,
» or that they are they happen at the same time.
That *wisdom of men* commonly refers to when the Holy Spirit enters INTO a person, which event is commonly called "the indwelling of the Spirit."
That *teaching of men* correctly postulates that when a person "is saved" is when the "indwelling of the Spirit" occurs.
The problem is that the  wildly popular false doctrine of men teaches Christians:
... that the "the indwelling of" and the "submersion into" the Holy Ghost are the same thing,
... which doctrine is not in the bible, anywhere — because it is a Doctrine of MEN.
That invalid and unsupported doctrine/fairy tale has been "imagined" by theologians and 'Christian Apologists'
... because they do not know what they are reading;
... or because they do not hear the Word of God,
... and they do not believe the Word of God.
HINT: Jesus Christ is the Word of God.
Another enormous problem is that they do not know what the word "know" means in the bible!
The scriptural definition of the infinitive "to know" is: to have PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED.
FACT: Knowing Jesus has nothing to do with "knowing about Jesus."
The devils really DO KNOW Jesus ... and tremble!
All of the "doctors of religion" with doctorate degrees and letters after their names,
— with decades of "learning ABOUT Jesus"
— those well-educated, ordained-by-man, taught-by-man preachers and teachers, pastors and elder and bishops, theologians and apologists,
— those exegetes and "those who WRESTLE the scriptures ... to their own (and the flock of Jesus Christ) DESTRUCTION." [2 Peter 3:16]
— all of those who have only "Head knowledge" about Jesus
... do not have any "BIBLICAL knowledge."
 None.
Period.
Those who "only think that they know Jesus" are the multitude (virtually all?) of modern-day, self-proclaimed "christian leaders" to whom at the last Judgment Jesus will say:
"I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity ... There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out." [Luke 13:27-28 KJV]
What is the true "indwelling of the Spirit" — what does the Living Word of God say about when the Holy Spirit comes into us and resides in us?
This is what the bible does state to be true regarding "the INDWELLING of the Spirit" versus "the covering with / immersion / baptism INTO the Spirit."
First things first: the two separate events, the "INDWELLING OF" and the "baptism INTO" the Holy Spirit are not the same event;
rather they are the exact INVERSE of each other.
Think about it for one minute: filling a cup WITH water is not the same as submerging that cup INTO water.
When we pour water into the cup we try to get it completely filled, but it doesn't quite get completely filled; there is a little that spills out leaving the cup "mostly full."
But when we SUBMERSE the cup into water — when we hold it down in the water completely COVERING it with water — only then is the cup FILLED with water.
Secondly: not only are "the Spirit dwelling IN US" and "us baptized INTO the Spirit" not the same thing;
» those two events DID NOT EVEN HAPPEN at the same time in the Bible.
Indwelling OF: The disciples received "the indwelling of the Spirit" in the locked room in Galilee that evening of Jesus' resurrection.
On the night of the resurrection, once the disciples had finally done what the bible tells us that we all must do in order to be saved: "confess with their mouth that Jesus is [our] Lord and believe in their hearts that God has raised him from the dead."
Then IMMEDIATELY Jesus breathed over them and COMMANDED them to "receive ye the Holy Ghost."
Note that "receive ye" above is in the present tense and imperative voice.
Jesus was commanding them to "receive ye [NOW this very second] the Holy Ghost."
That is exactly when "the indwelling of the Spirit" occurred, the day after the Passover when Jesus was risen and first ascended unto the Father — as Jesus told Mary Magdalene He was immediately ascending unto the Father the morning of His resurrection:
» Easter Morning Jesus finally FULFILLED ALL of the Law and the Prophets, for one thing yet had to happen before He could fulfill it: He had to be crucified and shed His blood first.
» As the High Priest of the Passover ... as it is written in the book to the Hebrews ...
— Jesus HIMSELF was the only one who is worthy to be the one true HIGH PRIEST,
— hence He had to take the real, true Blood of the Lamb which He shed on the cross
— into the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle in Heaven
— presenting the Blood of the Lamb before the Mercy Seat of God in Heaven
as the only one eternal NEW TESTAMENT
which testament He wrote in His Own Blood which God Himself shed for us
that we are SURELY SAVED!
Baptism INTO: On the day of the Feast of Weeks, which not "Pentecost" which is from the LATIN fo "fifty days"
Because it is not fifty days!
Rather it is the "week of weeks" after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ = Forty Nine Days!
We are truly amazed: So very little of the Truth (Jesus is The Truth) are we taught today by the modern-day "preachers and teachers."
God did not appoint this second of the only three great holy days in the bible on a Sabbath Day;
— the date of the Feast of Weeks (aka "Pentecost" was NOT based upon the Passover
— nor was the Feast of Weeks based upon the day of the crucifixion of the Passover Jesus
— but rather the Feast of Weeks was based upon the day AFTER the Passover: The day when Jesus was Raised from the dead!
When the one hundred and twenty (120) of Jesus' disciples (including His mother Mary and his brothers after the manner of the flesh)
... after they Heard + Believed + Obeyed the Great Commission as He clearly commands His Church to do, which today We Absolutely REFUSE to obey today;
... and after they had waited ten days upon "the promise of the Father" to come to them .... exactly as Jesus COMMANDS us to do
... that is is when what Jesus promised them would happen came to pass: they were baptized with FIRE, and they were baptized with the Holy Ghost.
As it is written:
They were Baptized with FIRE: "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat UPON each of them." [Acts 2:3 KJV]
They were Baptized INTO, they were IMMERSED INTO and COVERED WITH the HOLY SPIRIT: "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."  [Acts 2:4 KJV]
Conclusion: all of the "christian teachers and preachers" today in this Laodicean Church, in this modern-day church of this world"... all of those who "only think that they know" what they are lying about ...
— all those who only have "head knowledge about Jesus"
— those who are lying directly to Jesus' True Christian Church
— by teaching the False Doctrine of Men saying that "the indwelling of the Spirit" and "the baptism INTO the Holy Spirit" are the same thing;
» they do not even recognize Jesus Christ: Jesus is the only True, Living Word of God.
FACT: they are NOT the same thing, and they do not happen at the same time. Period.
The "indwelling of the Spirit" occurred on the day of Jesus' Resurrection,
» it was the fifteenth day of the first month, one day AFTER the  Feast of the Passover.
The "baptism WITH the Spirit" occurred 49 days later, exactly FORTY NINE after the RESURRECTION!
The only solution is Jesus Christ, to Hear + Believe + OBEY Him:
In the  bible which is the ONLY authority on the any subject
— the Holy Spirit of God dwelling in us
— and us being submerged into the Holy Ghost
— happened SEVEN WEEKS APART from each other!
That means: they are NOT the same thing.
Duh! RTFM people!
[which 'rtfm' refers to the UNIX™ Operating System's hard code commenting "read the freaking manualpage" not "manual" = even today's "computer experts" cannot get anything right.]
FACT: When the resurrected and glorified Jesus Christ DID COMMAND His disciples to Immediately Receive the Holy Ghost
Jesus DID NOT command them: "receive ye FORTY NINE DAYS FROM TODAY the Holy Ghost."
Do you now "see and KNOW" how ignorant, uneducated by the Comforter and Antichristian these "doctrines of men" are?
Yes it is true. The son of perdition, the spirit of the Antichrist, is alive and doing quite well within the worldly "christian church" today: Satan's ordained + educated teachers of false doctrines are the vast majority of the religious "christian pastors and teachers" today.
When Jesus returns in the clouds with the host of heaven and with all of the saints, when the only second-coming of Christ occurs, there will be much  "weeping and gnashing of teeth" by all of those who teach a different gospel today.
Do not believe those "ordained by man and taught by man" self-appointed "pastors and teachers" .... those who only "think that they know" ... because they teach the lies of Satan to the True Church of Jesus Christ. Amen.
They are those false prophets and false teachers ... the modern-day servants of the Antichrist although they "think that they know" Jesus ... against whom we are clearly and often warned in these last days.
 ... which is an article for another day.
