Three baptisms not one. In the modern-day Christian Church has one baptism: the baptism with water. In the Bible there are THREE baptisms: with water, with the Holy Spirit and with FIRE.
Here at Jesus Christ (gr: 'inchristi') the Christian Church is invited to discuss all three of the baptisms, one by man with water and two by JESUS Christ Himself.
This web resource starts at the baby's milk of the Gospel regarding Baptisms. From the days of the earliest primitive ['apostolic'] Church to the 21st century; the church has FALLEN away from the truth.
Here we will discuss, and ask for your opinions and testimony, regarding the Church's status and failures regarding all three baptisms.
The bible question is: Then why does the modern-day fallen church only recognize and obey one baptism ... if that many?
The scriptural answer is: We must do what our Father, our Lord and our God Jesus Christ, has ordered us to do: be baptized with water, and baptized with the Holy Spirit, and to be baptized with FIRE.
What are the three baptisms in the bible? Please count them yourself below.
There is the baptism with water, the baptism with the Holy Spirit and the baptism with FIRE.
But wait!
Today the church only preaches, recognizes and practices only ONE baptism: the baptism with water unto repentance (and even then "just barely").
What exactly is up with that?
Why has the modern-era Christian Church decided to IGNORE two-thirds of the bible?
First things first ...
We believe the Living Word of God: Jesus Christ.
We know that the written word of God is recorded in the Holy Scriptures: the Bible.
We have been commanded by God to do three simple things in order to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
The simple truth: Hear what Jesus says, believe what He tells us is true and to do what Jesus tells us to do.
Below is the simple Kindergarten-Level Arithmetic equation for being a true disciple of Jesus Christ ...
(HEAR Jesus) + (BELIEVE Him) + (OBEY Him)
Could it possibly be more simple than that?
Where are we today?
» Today we are amazed.
How far the Church has fallen in the last few years?
What once we all knew only a few years ago, today has become a complete mystery to us.
» Today most (virtually all churches?) Christian Churches completely ignore both the baptism with the Holy Spirit and the baptism with FIRE.
» Virtually all "mainline" and "evangelical" churches just barely meet the minimum elements of "the Baptism of John" (i.e. "the baptism with water unto repentance"), while completely ignoring Two Thirds of the Bible as though it does not exist.
» Virtually all "charismatic" or "pentecostal" denominations also completely ignore the baptism with FIRE.
What must we do?
Let us gather together in JESUS Christ, that His Holy Spirit will guide us into the Truth; as it is written:
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come." [John 16:12-13 KJV]
Where in the Bible does it say that there are three baptisms in Jesus' Church?
And why should we care?
» The three (3) baptisms in the New Testament. ... count them yourself.
One baptism is performed by men.
The other two baptisms are performed by the Resurrected and Glorified and Ascended JESUS Christ Himself.
The three Baptism clearly outlined in the bible are:
1. The baptism of John with water ("unto repentance").
2. The baptism by Jesus with the Holy Ghost.
3. The baptism by Jesus with FIRE.
Below are scriptures citing baptism with WATER - and baptism with the HOLY GHOST - and baptism with FIRE.
Luke 3:16 KJV » "John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the HOLY GHOST and with FIRE.”
Matthew 3:11-16 KJV » "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance ... he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with FIRE: Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him [with the Baptism of John with water]... And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him."
John 1:33 KJV » "And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.' "
John 14:16-18 KJV » The Lord Jesus told us that He Himself will baptize us with His Holy Spirit: "... [the Father] shall give you another Comforter ... Even the SPIRIT of truth ... ye know him; for HE DWELLETH WITH YOU, and shall be in you ... I WILL COME to you."
We are called to be His disciples: to FOLLOW Jesus and to do what Jesus did.
But we NOT following Jesus ... we are merely following the Doctrines of MEN — and keeping the TRADITIONS of this world.
That is simply not good enough brothers and sisters ... not nearly even close to following Jesus.
We cannot serve as Jesus' Disciples
— in this world,
for are called "out of this world"
— we are called into Jesus: "the Kingdom of God is AT HAND."
» Jesus Himelf submitted to the baptism with water by John.
I sincerely had hoped that all who read this would know about Jesus' baptism by John;
... but as I was publishing this article the Holy Spirit of God (i.e. the Spirit of Christ) warned me: "Do not presume that any person in this world of darkness and sin and death knows any truth."
... therefore you may refer to All Four Gospels of Jesus Christ:
Matthew 3:13,16-17 KJV » "Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. And Jesus, when he was baptized ... And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Mark 1:9-11 KJV » "... Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him ... a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Luke 3:21-22 KJV » "... it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."
and John 1:29-34 KJV » "... John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God ... of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me .. I knew him not ... therefore am I come baptizing with water. John bare record, saying, 'I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.' And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."
After Jesus was baptized with water IMMEDIATELY He was baptized with the Holy Ghost:
John 1:33 KJV » "... he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, 'Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.' "
As soon as Jesus was baptized with water and baptized with the Holy Spirit ... immediately Jesus was led by the spirit into the wilderness where Jesus was baptized with FIRE:
Matthew 4:1-11 KJV » "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted ... he had fasted forty days and forty nights ... when the tempter came to him ... Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him."
Mark 1:8-12 KJV » "I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost ... Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him ... And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness."
Many (virtually all?) modern-day Christians have been religiously schooled in one specific and highly apostate *doctrine of men.*
That false doctrine of men claims that the two Baptisms, with water and with the Holy Spirit, either are the same event or that they happen at the same time.
That *wisdom of men* commonly refers to when the Holy Spirit enters INTO a person, which event is commonly called "the indwelling of the Spirit."
That *teaching of men* correctly postulates that when a person "is saved" is when the "indwelling of the Spirit" occurs.
The problem is that this false doctrine is not in the bible, anywhere.
That invalid and unsupported doctine/fairy tale has been "imagined" by theologians and 'Christian Apologists' ... because they do not know what they are reading.
The scriptural definition of the infinitive "to know" is "to have PERSONALLY EXPERIENCED."
The manifest and ubiquitous "Head knowledge" of well-educated people does not count as knowledge in the Bible. Period.
This is what the bible does state to be true regarding "the INDWELLING of the Spirit" versus "the covering with / immersion / baptism INTO the Spirit."
First things first: the two separate events, the "INdwelling OF" and the "baptism INTO" the Holy Spirit are not the same event;
rather they are the exact INVERSE of each other.
Think about it for one minute: filling a bottle WITH water is not the same as submerging a bottle INTO water.
Secondly, the two events did NOT HAPPEN at the same time in the Bible.
The disciples received "the indwelling of the Spirit" in the locked room in Galilee that evening of Jesus' resurrection.
On the night of the resurrection, once the disciples had finally done what the bible tells us that we all must do in order to be saved: "confess with their mouth that Jesus is [our] Lord and believe in their hearts that God has raised him from the dead."
Then IMMEDIATELY Jesus breathed over them and COMMANDED them to "receive ye the Holy Ghost."
Note that "receive ye" above is in the present tense and imperative voice.
Jesus was commanding them to "receive ye [NOW this very second] the Holy Ghost."
That is exactly when "the indwelling of the Spirit" occured, the day after the Passover when Jesus was risen and ascended unto the Father.
Then, on the day of the Feast of Weeks (one week of weeks after the Resurrection = Forty Nine Days, God did not appoint this second of the ... three great holy based upon the death of Jesus, but rather upon His Resurection)
When the one hundred and twenty (120) of Jesus' disciples (including His mother Mary and his brothers after the manner of the flesh)
... is when what Jesus promised them would happen finally came to pass: they were baptized with FIRE, and they were baptized with the Holy Ghost.
As it is written:
Baptism with FIRE: "And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE, and it sat upon each of them." [Acts 2:3 KJV]
Baptism with the HOLY SPIRIT: "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." [Acts 2:4 KJV]
Conclusion: the two events are NOT the same, they are NOT one single event ... never was and will never be the same.
The "indwelling of the Spirit" occurred on the fifteenth day of the first month, the day AFTER the the Feast of the Passover.
The "baptism WITH the Spirit" occurred exactly FORTY NINE DAYS LATER.
When the resurrected and glorified Jesus Christ DID COMMAND His disciples to Immediately Receive the Holy Ghost
Jesus did not command them "receive ye FORTY NINE DAYS FROM TODAY the Holy Ghost."
Do you "see" how ignorant and anti-educated these "doctrines of men" are,
regardless of their worldly repute and the riches of this world?
These are the false prophets and teachers against whom we are warned in the last times
... which is an article for another day.
