When Isaiah cites *THE ISLES* nine times, he is referring to what the Americas were called in those days: "the isles" or "the far off isles."

Why do people think that God is ignorant?

Modern-day "apologists" and "theologians" think that, just because people of those days had no common name for the New World, that they were ignorant people.

The simple fact is that there was no NAME for the Americas when the bible was written.

"The Americas" only became common after the maps of the New world which were made and signed by "AMERICUS Vespucci" became widely used by ALL of the sailing vessels from every nation.

Those maps were referred to as "America's maps" and the common name "America" was born.

It is very likely that the peoples of the ancient days were quite aware of "the new world" to the west.

But they had no common name by which this 'other western world" was called.

Nor did they know the size of the Americas.

The Americas were lumped in with all lands to which one must sail as the undefined "the isles" or "the far off isles."

Listed below are only nine times in the book of Isaiah:

2 » {40:15} Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, HE TAKETH UP *THE ISLES** as a very little thing.

3 » {41:5} *THE ISLES* saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

4 » {42:4} He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and *THE ISLES* SHALL WAIT for his law.

5 » {42:10} Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; *THE ISLES* and the inhabitants thereof.

6 » {49:1} LISTEN, O *ISLES*, unto me; and hearken, ye PEOPLE FROM FAR; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

7 » {51:5} My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; *THE ISLES* shall wait upon me, and on MINE ARM SHALL they [*THE ISLES*] TRUST.

Surely *THE ISLES* shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.

And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

9 » And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to *THE ISLES* AFAR OFF off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles. [66:19]

NOTE BELOW: This ninth time Isaiah cites *THE ISLES* is at the last battle (Armageddon) when The Isles are mentioned ...

Three examples below which support the times ...

"... to the ISLES AFAR OFF, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles."

"... the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD"

"... from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. "
